THE FESTIVAL
The Festival des Eurochestries in Quebec joined our network in 2010.
This event was born from the initiative of Laurent Breton, at the time conductor of the Cascades de Beauport, in Quebec. After attending the Festival in Charente-Maritime, he created the Eurochestries Association in Quebec, so much the reception and the Eurochestries project interested him ...
Mathieu Rivest, director of
Saint-Alexandre du Kamouraska musical camp
and conductor, is responsible for the festival in Quebec. He also works in partnership with Rosaire Tremblay for the part in Baie-Saint-Paul, and Benjamin René and the Cegep de Sainte Foy for the part in Quebec.
About fifteen concerts are organized during the Festival week. Like the other festivals in our network, the young instrumentalists meet for a week, both to play their own repertoire during the fifteen concerts, but also to work together on common works intended to be played during the concerts. closing by “this great international orchestra” created for the occasion. After six days at Camp musical St Alexandre du Kamouraska, the musicians will travel to Quebec and Baie-Saint-Paul for the other two closing concerts of the festival.
This Festival took place from 2010 to 2012, mainly in Quebec City, with the partnership of the prestigious Palais Montcalm, which hosted the opening and closing concerts.
In 2013 and 2014, Quebec hosted the Strasbourg Youth Orchestra (France), the Vaya Con Dios choir from the Pyrenees (France), and the National Accordion Orchestra (France) on tour, thanks to the association “International musical tours” founded by Marie-Luce Ouellet.
The festival takes place every two years, even years. In odd years, possibility of organizing a tour for an orchestra or a
choir, within the planned dates.
