A look back at the "Musical Olympics" | 2024 Edition
This Festival is the oldest in the Eurochestries network, since it has its roots in the festival organized in Charente in 1989.
Every year since 1989, the Eurochestries Charente-Maritime festival has welcomed 360 high-level young musicians, aged 15 to 25, from different countries around the world.
For almost two weeks, 60 concerts take place throughout the Charente-Maritime, Charente and Gironde regions.
The festival welcomes symphony orchestras, string orchestras, choirs, and chamber music ensembles to the Lycée de Pons. This venue provides balanced, high-quality food and a friendly, welcoming environment. Located in the city center, the high school allows musicians to easily visit the medieval town of Pons.
In addition, the festival is anchored between land and sea, allowing musicians to make varied tourist discoveries, ranging from the Atlantic coasts to the hillsides of the Cognac and Pineau countries.
During the festival, every morning is used for international rehearsals made up of musicians of all nationalities, in order to prepare the two closing concerts which take place every year in Jonzac and Pons.
Through its festivals, true summer and fraternity projects for young people, the Eurochestries work to build responsible and civic-minded young people, around five axes: connection, sharing, commitment, a sense of effort, and responsibility.
