History of Eurochestries

Eurochestries

THE first Eurochestries festival was born in 1989 in Charente, on the initiative of Mr Marcel Corneloup , in order to promote the orchestral practice of young people aged 15 to 25, through international exchange. Based until 1998 in Charente, the Eurochestries saw their rebirth in Charente-Maritime in 1999, after a year of restructuring, under the leadership of Claude Belot, senator-mayor of Jonzac and president of the General Council at the time, and the presidency of Claude Révolte.

Since the first festival, the Eurochestries concept spread and other festivals were created in Europe and then outside Europe. In 2007, the Federation of Eurochestries Festivals was created , in order to coordinate all the Eurochestries festivals which are organized in different European countries called since 2019, Eurochestries International .
