THE FESTIVALS

The Eurochestries Festival in Quebec joined our network in 2010.

This event originated with Laurent Breton, then conductor of the Cascades de Beauport orchestra in Quebec City. After attending the Festival in Charente-Maritime, he created the Eurochestries Association in Quebec, so impressed was he by the warm welcome and the Eurochestries project...

Mathieu Rivest, director of Saint-Alexandre du Kamouraska Music Camp and conductor, is responsible for the festival in Quebec. He also works in partnership with Rosaire Tremblay for the part in Baie-Saint-Paul, and Benjamin René and the Cegep de Sainte Foy for the part in Quebec City.

Approximately fifteen concerts are organized during the Festival week. Like other festivals in our network, the young instrumentalists gather for a week, both to perform their own repertoire during the fifteen concerts and to work together on collaborative pieces intended to be performed at the closing concert by the "grand international orchestra" created for the occasion. After six days at the St. Alexandre Music Camp in Kamouraska, the musicians will travel to Quebec City and Baie-Saint-Paul for the two other closing concerts of the festival.

This Festival took place from 2010 to 2012, mainly in Quebec City, with the partnership of the prestigious Palais Montcalm which hosted the opening and closing concerts.

In 2013 and 2014, Quebec hosted the Strasbourg Youth Orchestra (France), the Vaya Con Dios Choir of the Pyrenees (France), and the National Accordion Orchestra (France) on tour, thanks to the "International Musical Tours" association founded by Marie-Luce Ouellet.

The festival takes place every two years, in even-numbered years. In odd-numbered years, there is the possibility of organizing a tour for an orchestra or a choir, on the scheduled dates.
