Didier Descamps carries out all of his musical studies at the National Conservatory of the Douai Region. At the time of fulfilling his military obligations, he was assigned to the Music of the 8th Infantry Division in Amiens and then joined the Music of the Military District of Defense of Rennes, in 1991. He then oriented himself. towards conducting and preparing for the competition for music assistant. He was first appointed in March 1994 and then joined the Band of the 4th Aeromobile Division in Nancy. At the same time, he studied fugue, counterpoint and orchestration with Maître Noël Lancien, 1st Grand Prix de Rome in musical composition and then director of the National Conservatory of Nancy. Assigned to the Main Music of the Army in Versailles, he then completed his training in musical writing with Messrs Désiré Dondeyne and Bernard de Crépy, professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris. He studied orchestral conducting with Roger Boutry, 1st Grand Prix de Rome in musical composition and former conductor of the Republican Guard Orchestras. Prize-winner in the competition of Chief of Music of the Armies in 2006, he takes the direction of the Music of the Crews of the Fleet of Brest. He was appointed chief of music of the armed forces hors classe (Lieutenant-Colonel) on July 1, 2010. Since September 2018, he has been assistant music chief and head of the Brass Band of the Music of the Air.

Didier Descamps is invited to many competition juries. Attentive to the educational dimension within the orchestra, he regularly intervenes as a trainer during orchestral conducting internships. He has also been a professor of symphony orchestra conducting at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Douai since September 2017. Having joined the Eurochestries in 2013, he directs the Brno Youth Symphony Orchestra during the Charente Maritime festival ( Czech Republic) and participates in the Eurochestries festival in Kamouraska, Baie-Saint-Paul and Quebec in August 2015, as guest conductor.
