Born on the 28th of June 1951 at REIMS, JEAN-Pierre POMMIER started his musical studies at the age of 15, discovering clarinet thanks to his father an amateur musician. Obtaining rewards at the Conservatoire National de Région de VERSAILLES, at the Ecole Nationale de Musique d’ISSY-LES-MOULINEAUX and at the Schola Cantorum of PARS in different subjects (Clarinet, Chamber Music, Wind Section, Counterpoint, Fugue, Analysis and Organ) will help him chose a musical career.
It was in 1985, during the "Concours National de Composition" of CHASSIEU, that his talents as a composer were recognized. Since then his other results were confirmed a first success: laureate of the "Concours National de Composition" of DAUPHINE (1988) and of the "Concours Internationaux de Composition" of HAVRE (1990) and of CORCIANO (Italy, 2007). These distinctions had provoked orders from soloists, instrumental groups, music schools and institutions. Each year, at least one piece is created. These works are edited at ROBERT MARTIN, FUZEAU, COMBRE, BILLAUDOT, ALFONCE PRODUCTION.
Requested by different regional and departmental musical federations and by CEFEDEM, he intervenes in the formation of directors of harmony orchestras (preparation for the D.A.D.S.M.) or during musical practice formations. Since 2005, he is a member of the "Conseil National Artistique" of the CMF.
Holder of the "Certificat d’Aptitude aux Fonctions de Directeur de Conservatoire" and of the "Diplôme d’Etat de Direction d’Ensembles à Vent", he has insured, simultaneously with his activities as a composer, the leadership of the Ecoles de Musique of MAIONS-LAFFITTE, VICHY, BEZIERS and the leadership of the Orchestres d’Harmonie of COMPIEGNE, RAMBOUILLET, CRETEIL, VICHY et REGION POITOU-CHARENTES.
Since 1994, Jean-Pierre POMMIER is the Director of the "Conservatoire à Rayonnement Départemental" and the artistic director of the Instrumental Ensemble “C d’accord” of the Community Agglomeration of LA ROCHELLE.
