President of the Association Monsieur de Saint-George
Sir Alain GUEDE
Paris'
Eurochestries
July & August 2009
City of Paris
The association "The Concert of Mr. St. George, founded in 2000, works to rediscover the music of the "Knight" and the rehabilitation of this man with exceptional generosity that was probably the first great artist engaged. It adopted that name in tribute to the groups that Saint George has directed such as "Le Concert des Amateurs" and "Le Concert de l'Olympique" or with whom he was distinguished, as "Le Concert Spiritual".
The philosophy of this association largely meets the broad lines of the EUROCHESTRIES' action. In 2003, the first common action led to a major concert with the Montreal orchestra that accompanied the Martinican solo violinist Anne-Estell Médouze which is now the supersoliste of the Ile-de-France Orchestra.
In 2004, Alain Guédé was able to conduct a conference tour in Russia under the EUROCHESTRIES Festivals.
In 2005, all the bands involved in these festivals have been invited to play a work by St. George.
In 2006, the Youth Orchestra of the Volga made a concert in Paris under the auspices of "The Concert of Mr. St. George" in the context of this festival.
In 2007, 3 orchestras came to tender their repertoire in Paris. Young Chamber Orchestra Jerez (Maestro Alvarez Geigbeder) played in Neuilly-sur-Marne and in the "Oratoire du Louvre". Young Orchestra of St. Petersburg had the opportunity to perform in Paris, in the Sainte-Chapelle, and finally the Young Strings Orchestra Kosice-Slovakia "Iuvenalis Musicalis" could perform in the church of Saint- Séverin in Fontenay-sous-Bois, but also, and it is unusual enough to be noted, in the prison of Fleury-Merogis. See newspaper article below for further information about the event.
