Cécilia WESTON

        Cecilia Weston began his music studies at the University of Edinburgh and Cambridge as a professional violinist. She continued her violin studies in London with H. Bedelian and E. Hurvitz then, in 1994, won the "Conductor of the Year" (young conductor of the year). She received a scholarship whith which she was able to study in Scotland at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Theater, where she graduated university Conducting and Choir. The following year she won prestigious awards such as Sir Alexander Gibson prize for young conductors and the Hugh Robertson prize.

 

In 1996, Cecilia has successfully auditioned for a place at the Music Conservatory of Saint Petersburg, with Ilya Alexandrovich Musin  and Alexander Politschuk. In 1997, she participated in the Pavarotti Festival in Barbados with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Thereafter, thanks to an invitation of Claudio Abbado, to her numerous awards and several grants, she could continue her studies in Berlin.

Since then, she has given many concerts with professional orchestras and young musicians. She directed choirs in the UK and Europe : with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, with the orchestras of the universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh, with choirs of amateur or professional, the London Sinfonietta and the House of the Opera in Basel ( "Die Zauberflöte"). She was also a teacher for the job of youth conductor of the Music Academy of Scotland and, more recently, led orchestras for films from the Fox and Paramount London ( "The Golden Age," " Moulin Rouge, "" Ray, "" Love Actually "...). She also worked for Virgin Records with Craig Armstrong for films and contemporary classical music.     

Since her debut she has never stopped working as a teacher to young and old, bringing them to discover themselves a passion for music. Most recently, she took on the role of Head of Music Education (3 to 18 years) at the International School of Mougins on the French Riviera.
